Conservative horrors

Are they talking about the Mi-Go or Shoggoths?
This had me laughing.
Apparently John J. Miller of the arch-conservative National Review has given us his Halloween recommendations for quality horror reading. Among his suggestions, Russell Kirk’s “Behind the Stumps.” Why? Because it’s a “deeply conservative ghost story about the arrogance of government and the importance of local knowledge.”
Yep. I always judge my ghost stories by their political agenda.
Interestingly, Miller also highly recommends “Call of Cthulhu” by rabid xenophobe H.P. Lovecraft. Seems appropriate, given the amount of immigrant-bashing the Republican Party has been engaging in lately.
